Pioneer Cities
From 2009 through 2012, nineteen “Pioneer Cities” from across California worked together to implement good government programs that fit the unique nature of their communities. Some were aggressive while some were more nuanced. All were positive for the process of governance.
The program was launched at the initial California Ethics and Democracy Summit in 2009. The lessons learned were shared at the second Summit in 2012 and will be incorporated into upcoming best practices and educational curricula.
